Check the fit first: understanding S, M and L sizes
Measure the handbook you have before relying on a size label. A6, B6 and A5 differ in both height and width. A case labeled S, M or L does not necessarily have the same usable dimensions as another brand’s equivalent.

Measure the thickness with the cover on
If your handbook has a clear protective cover or a cover you bought separately, leave it on when measuring height, width and thickness. familiar also notes that a B6 handbook with its supplied cover may not fit the smaller case. A few extra millimeters around the outside can affect the fit.
A case’s outer dimensions are different from its usable storage space. Eito.’s case measures 22.7 × 16.5 cm on the outside, but that does not make it A5-compatible. Use the product’s stated compatibility as your guide, and check before buying if you have a thick cover or several booklets.
Check your largest document and your bag’s opening
Measure the documents you carry with the handbook, such as appointment forms and subsidy vouchers. If a sheet must stay unfolded, use that sheet as a starting point when choosing a case. A case that fits the handbook may not fit every accompanying document.
Finally, check your everyday bag’s opening and inside pockets. A piece of paper cut to the case’s size can help you picture the fit. Allow some extra room for taking it in and out: the contents will add thickness that a flat paper template cannot show.
Give each item a place, rather than counting pockets alone
Before you buy, lay out everything you want to carry. Sort it into four groups—booklets, cards, papers and small items—to see which storage features you actually need.

Make one temporary home for papers you receive
Give the items you hand over at reception a regular place, and keep a temporary space for receipts and other papers you receive afterward. Separating outgoing and incoming paperwork can help keep receipts away from unused appointment forms.
A rear pocket is one possible place for items you take out often. Check its size and whether it has a closure; keep important cards and small items that could slip out inside the case. Sort out unneeded papers when you get home so you notice when the contents start to make the case difficult to close.
For two children, think about separation as well as capacity
If you want to keep siblings’ records together, make a separate stack for each child and check the total amount. Two handbooks can mean very different thicknesses and quantities of paperwork. If the children sometimes go to different clinics with different adults, separate cases or removable organizers may be useful.

Compare the internal layout and the closure separately
“Accordion or zipper?” can sound like a choice between two case types, but accordion describes the internal layout and zipper describes the closure. A case can have both, so compare them in two steps.
Book-style, accordion and pouch layouts
- Book-style: opens to the left and right so you can see the pocket arrangement. Check how wide it becomes when open and how it might feel to hold while using it.
- Accordion: worth considering if you want to separate documents by compartment. Look at how easily you could find stacked papers and how the case accommodates extra thickness.
- Pouch: an option for bringing together items you have already sorted into smaller organizers. If there are few internal dividers, plan separately for cards.
Picture the movement needed to close it
A zipper needs to be drawn all the way around; a snap needs to be aligned and fastened. When looking at photos or videos, picture supporting the case in one hand and putting the paperwork back, as well as opening it. A layout’s name alone cannot tell you whether it will be easy to use one-handed.
The same care applies to materials. A water-repellent finish does not automatically mean a case is waterproof or washable. Check the care instructions and choose a combination of appearance and everyday handling that suits you.

“Eight card slots” and “12 pockets” count different things, so we have not ranked storage capacity by those numbers. familiar notes that a B6 handbook with its supplied cover may not fit model 001. MUJI also notes that the amount and thickness of the contents can prevent items matching the stated inner dimensions from fitting.

Will a large-capacity case fit any document?
“Large capacity” does not specify the dimensions of paper a case can hold. Eito.’s case supports S and M sizes only. If you have an A5 handbook or documents you want to keep unfolded, choose a product explicitly compatible with those dimensions.

What size should the photo be?
The recommended actual size is approximately 89 × 89 mm. Print settings can affect the finished dimensions, so measure the print before inserting it. If you do not want to trim an important original, use a copy instead.
